Instead of CIGNA managing our accounts and paying our claims, Paragon will process and pay claims on behalf of Betenbough Companies employees' benefit health plan. We are only using Cigna's provider network. Your medical ID number that you give your providers is linked to Paragon, not CIGNA. Any time your doctor needs to verify your benefits for an appointment, or you need preauthorization for a procedure, they will call Paragon, whose number is on the back of your medical ID card.
Paragon assists in both consolidating and ensuring accuracy in billing with health insurance claims. The TPA issues ID cards to policyholders, which have to be shown to the provider prior to medical visits or procedures.
A TPA is the third-party administrator who will process and pay claims on behalf of Betenbough Companies employee benefit health plan effective January 1, 2023.
Your employer is self-funded for your health benefits. Your claims are “processed” by Paragon Benefits, but your health benefits are “paid” by your employer.
Your provider should call the number on the back of your ID Card to verify your benefits.
