Role Overview

The Ninety-Two Front of House assistant manager oversees the day-to-day operations of our baristas and bakers. This role will interact and connect with the community, café patrons and team members daily to ensure excellent quality and service. This position will oversee the team directly working behind the counter serving coffee as well as our bakery team. The assistant manager is responsible for seeing out the vision of Ninety-Two Bakery & Café under the leadership of the Manager.

Core Functions

  • Collaborate with the management team to oversee daily store operations and workflow of both the front and back of house
  • Assist in hiring, training, staffing and coaching team members
  • Order and maintain supplies up to par levels and keep spaces clean and organized as well as submitting invoices and finding creative ways to cut costs without decreasing quality
  • Create and build connections with team members, patron s and vendors of the café
  • Responsible for counting end of the month inventory alongside management team and ensuring our monthly profit margins are being maintained
  • Work alongside café team to ensure excellent quality and service; cover when people call out or we are short staffed
  • Assist with catering and wholesale operations by sending out invoices and communicating with kitchen and bakery teams
  • Maintain a high standard of quality, hygiene and health safety in all of our kitchen and storage spaces

Required Qualifications

  • Able to demonstrate holding others accountable
  • Proven experience in cash handling
  • Knowledge of financial aspects of an operation
  • Demonstrated passion of guest service and team member development
  • Demonstrated ability to improve operational processes and efficiencies
  • Demonstrated strong partnering, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Proven computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, teach and work with a diverse team
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Basic coffee and baking knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous management experience
  • Restaurant/cafe experience

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Restaurant environment.
  • Vision for near, mid-range and far as well as hearing for low, medium, and high pitch.
  • Requires physical ability for standing, sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching above head and below waist.
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license and must be able to be insured by company fleet insurance.
  • Ability to lift 20 – 75 pounds.

Hours and Schedule

  • Full Time – Hourly/Non-Exempt
  • 40 – 45 hours per week (8am-5pm, Monday – Saturday).
  • Days and weekends required; you will be working at least 2 weekends a month, shifts and hours weekly might vary.
  • Minimal travel required for company events and inter-region collaboration.
