Data Engineer
Role Overview
You will architect, develop, and maintain data infrastructure and pipelines that empower stakeholders and drive growth through innovative data solutions.
Core Functions
- Works closely with analysts, software developers, and other business stakeholders to understand their data needs to provide them with the right data, infrastructure, and tools.
- Develop and implement data pipelines to ingest, process, and store data from multiple sources.
- Design, maintain, and expand processing and data storage solutions for databases and data warehouses.
- Implement data validation techniques and quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of our data.
- Monitor, evaluate, and optimize data storage solutions to ensure our data is organized, accessible, and secure.
- Document processes, best practices, and architecture to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration for the business.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in Computer Science, MIS, or IT related field plus 2 years of data engineering related experience OR 4 years of equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated understanding and usage of command-line (CLI) automation scripts – PowerShell, Azure CLI, etc.
- 2+ years of designing databases and data storage for structured and unstructured data.
- 2+ years working experience with: JSON, T-SQL, API usage, SQL Server.
- 1+ year experience with cloud-based data services in at least one of the following (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Demonstrated understanding of machine learning models, including language learning models (LLMs) like natural language processing (NLP) algorithms.
- Demonstrated understanding of software development lifecycle and release processes within a team.
- Proven ability to document, verbalize and organize thoughts and recommendations.
- Proven ability to effectively collaborate with customers, interdepartmental stakeholders, and team members.
- Must be eligible to work in the US.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Tableau, MS Power BI, MS PowerShell, Azure Data Factory, C#, Python, and R.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Office environment.
- Vision for near, mid-range and far as well as hearing for low, medium, and high pitch.
- Requires physical ability for standing, sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching above head and below waist.
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license and must be able to be insured by company fleet insurance.
- Ability to lift 5 – 20 pounds.
Hours and Schedule
- 40-45 hours per week (8am-5pm, M-F).
- Minimal travel required for company events and inter-region collaboration.
