Land Planner

Role Overview

Help establish residential community visions and work alongside talented individuals to drive these visions through full design, construction and to reality. Provide integral support to land acquisition efforts by championing conceptual layouts to city staff, internal stakeholders, and by identifying risks/opportunities during due diligence.

Core Functions

  • Schedule and participate in pre-development, zoning and platting meetings with municipal staff and key stakeholders.
  • Create and manage project schedules for all communities relating to entitlement, zoning, planning, and community amenities for approvals.
  • Attend Planning and Zoning meetings and City Council meetings as needed.
  • Manage community amenity process and create communication with appropriate parties/internal teams.
  • Responsible for keeping accurate homesite detail (count, classification, design, etc.) in our internal system and planning platforms.
  • Responsible for keeping master plans current including design changes and lot mix.
  • Responsible for internal process management: timely lot fit and sales release process.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning
  • Excel, Word, Bluebeam, Power Point, GIS

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Office environment: works in temperature-controlled environment.
  • Vision for near, mid-range and far as well as hearing for low, medium and high pitch.
  • Requires physical ability for standing, sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching above head and below waist.
  • Frequent walking on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, rock, etc.).
  • Ability to navigate hazardous conditions such as frequent moving vehicles, construction equipment, and various construction materials.
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license and must be able to be insured by company fleet insurance.
  • Ability to lift 5-20 pounds.

Hours and Schedule

  • 40 – 45 hours per week (8am-5pm, M-F).
  • Travel is occasionally required for company events and inter-region collaboration.
  • Some evenings required for City Council meetings.
