The mission of Ninety-Two Bakery and Café is “Engage. Experience. Refresh.” The café is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a haven of peace and safety, a well of connection, and a table with seats for everyone. You can see the profound impact of this business on its customers every day. Here are just a few of their stories.
Sybille comes into the café multiple times each week, either bringing her friends or grabbing something for herself. After she and her husband lost their son unexpectedly to suicide, Sybille became an advocate for mental health awareness and suicide prevention. She’s now serving as the Chair for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention West Texas Chapter, and the café was able to sponsor their “Ride to Fight Suicide” event. Sybille was incredibly grateful that her favorite coffee shop would engage with her passion to help others.
The café has a customer who comes in regularly and sets up a chess board with a sign inviting anyone to join him for a game. Patrons enjoy the experience of sitting down with a stranger over a game of chess!

Every Sunday morning you can watch as a son brings his elderly mother to the café. He patiently holds the door open while she cautiously navigates her walker through the entrance. They sit in the corner together and engage over coffee and pastries.
Jen wrote a “Kind Words” card in which she shared about her time spent at Ninety-Two as she’s been studying nurse-midwifery at TTUHSC. In her words, “This place has fed and nourished me in countless ways as I have worked my way toward being a midwife. This weekend I graduate from my program, and I am tearful as I visit this wonderful café one last time. Thank you for feeding my body and soul.” The café was a place for Jen to refresh as she was away from home for her studies.
For a long time now, two friends have been coming to Ninety-Two on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays to write. They’re each writing a book—one a science fiction novel and the other a mystery. One author is about to send in his third edit to print, and the other author is about to turn in his first draft. The café provides the perfect atmosphere for these two men to experience both friendship and creativity.
Two siblings visit the café every week to eat breakfast together and enjoy each other’s company. Each week they playfully fight over whose turn it is to buy breakfast. Their ritual to intentionally engage with each other is a blessing to all who see them week after week.
A local family lost their baby shortly after birth. A group of the mother’s friends brought her to brunch at Ninety-Two to celebrate the life of this child and refresh the grieving mom’s spirit. Even amid tremendous grief, this group of friends found joy in fellowship with each other.

Tessa has become a beloved fixture at Ninety-Two Bakery and Café. She volunteers to do “Coco’s Story Hour” every month, which is completely free to the community. Tessa provides a delightful experience for children as she reads a story and then facilitates a craft with them. In addition, Tessa and her parents come in the café every Friday morning to paint watercolors. They leave their paintings for others to take and enjoy; each has a prayer on the back.
Ninety-Two Bakery and Café has a quote on the wall: “There is a purpose in every table and from every table there is a new perspective.” These stories represent the new perspectives every customer has to offer, and they demonstrate the purpose being lived out at every table.
