“The corporation will demonstrate this purpose by raising people up to their God-given potential and enabling them to flourish spiritually, personally, and professionally. Also, the corporation will partner generously with other organizations that share a similar purpose. The corporation will focus upon its own employees and their families, upon the people with whom it has direct interactions, and upon the broader world. In carrying out its mission, profitability shall not be the sole factor in determining the goals and activities of the corporation."

Hey Betenbough Family,

Welcome to 2023! Before we get too engaged in what is ahead for us, we should stop and thank God for 2022, so thank you, Lord! The quote above is straight out of our incorporation documents for Betenbough Companies, PBC and I thought some of you might not know that our Purpose is stated in our corporate documents for the State of Texas. As a reminder, most corporations have “profit” as their stated primary purpose. Therefore, for them, an annual report is really just financial statements. To be clear, we are a for-profit company as well. Profit is not evil or wrong. In fact, we need it to flourish. But it is not the highest pursuit for us. In fact, we believe that if our highest pursuit is for the people to flourish and for us to work together to that end, profit will be the natural fruit of those efforts!

Since we have a different purpose, even as a for-profit corporation, we have an Impact Report as our annual report. We have stated that we want to enable our people to flourish spiritually, personally, and professionally and our Impact Report exists to tell those stories. We want to make an impact!

And we have had impact. When we really care about each other and work together for everyone’s benefit, there will be impact. We have heard so many stories of impact and we selected a few to share with everyone and celebrate together.

As Dad and I have struggled with our health this past year, I want you to know that YOU have had a big impact on us! Your texts, calls, visits, and prayers have cheered us on, and encouraged us. We are so blessed to call you family and your love is healing for us!

We love you and thank God for you, and we pray this will be a blessed year for each one of you!

Hey Betenbough Team,
Hello to 2024! Before we jump into what’s ahead, we should look back and thank God for 2023. So, we say “thank you, Lord,” for a challenging yet fruitful year! We believe that if our highest pursuit is for the people to flourish and for us to work together to make that our reality then profit will be the natural fruit of those efforts!...

Team Members' First Year Experiences

When I think about my earliest experiences here at Betenbough, I think about the daily usage of generosity. I mean that in more ways than just monetarily. I have never been poured into as a professional, a person, or a friend like I have in my first few months here. The amount of shoulder-to-shoulder, one-on-one, and true mentoring I have received is unlike any other place I’ve ever been. I want to thank every person who makes Betenbough Homes my home.

Transitioning from a corporate environment that emphasized long hours and a constant fear of repercussions to an environment where my well-being is valued has marked a profound shift in my mindset. Currently, I am actively adapting to new patterns of rest because of this shift. Remarkably, after two decades, I no longer return home mentally and emotionally drained. This transformation enables me to offer my family a version of myself that is not depleted but rather, a ‘healthier Amanda.’ As a mother of two active teenagers, this role has granted me the precious gift of being fully present during their last year at home. It also serves as an opportunity to reset their perception of work and instill in them a healthier perspective. An unexpected blessing has been the presence of a supportive leader who genuinely cares for my well-being and not just what I can produce. Moreover, I find immense joy in the realization that my role allows me not only to utilize the gifts the Lord has put in me but also to refine and enhance them. The experience of stewarding these gifts within my current position has been a source of deep gratitude. I appreciate the divine timing and the opportunity to contribute to the mission of Betenbough.

Working at Impact Title has been so unlike anywhere I’ve worked before in the best ways possible! I wanted to grow in so many ways during my job search and being here has grown me spiritually, personally, and professionally and has opened the door for me to meet so many amazing people who nurture growth in everyone around them and offer the best support!

From the moment I walked through the doors of Betenbough, I have felt nothing short of valued, loved, and supported. Every single member of this company is incredibly kind, generous, and encouraging, and this is the truest “work family” that I’ve ever experienced. When my family went through a tumultuous season, I never had to worry about the additional stress of work or try to save face while in the office – my team walked with me through it and helped carry my burden. I cannot say enough how grateful and blessed I am to be a part of the Betenbough family.

I know God chose me for the role I serve in now and feel this is a testament to His faithfulness. When I think about where I was before Betenbough, I’m amazed. Connection is so valued here. I remember a time at my previous job when I was chatting with co-workers for a couple of minutes and seeing one of the managers walk by glaring at us. He smiled but his eyes said otherwise, as to say, “Stop talking, get back to work.” I thought at the time that’s just how it is—you work and that’s that. Now that I am here, I understand that most companies operate with that mindset, but Betenbough is different because it prioritizes Kingdom work first. With that comes genuine human connection and love. Betenbough embodies a beautiful example of what being the church looks like, outside of the church walls. I absolutely love coming to work and being a part of a family that prays over, invests in, and cares for one another. It has been such a refreshing experience, and I cannot wait to see all that the good Lord continues to do and how He will use me, the company, and its people to advance the Kingdom further.

I have been a part of many teams during my career, some good and some not-so-good. What I value most about Betenbough is the culture that has been built and continues to be nurtured each day by every team member. It is truly something special and unique and something I have never experienced before. I no longer feel like I am just a number in a sea of numbers. I am now part of a team that cares about me, not just for what I can do for the company, but Betenbough cares about my professional growth, spiritual growth, and growth as an individual. This is not a job to me, but this is my calling and the way I get to serve people and, in turn, serve the Lord. I get to come to work every day and do what I love with a team of people who do not just talk about Betenbough’s values, but live and breathe those values. I am blown away every day by the Betenbough team!

    IN UTILITY BILLS FORGIVEN
In 2023, we discovered a pretty big mistake. We’d stopped doing a double-check where we’d disconnect utility services if a homebuyer didn’t move them over into their name after closing. The result was we’d been inadvertently paying utility bills on hundreds of closed homes for multiple years. This is a common issue that utility companies help builders work through, and at least a few of the utility providers said their standard process was to simply bill the homeowner for the amount since closing and reimburse us for that full amount. The Betenbough Homes leadership team discussed how to handle this, and it wasn’t an easy decision. While it is the customer’s responsibility to move the utilities into their name after closing, and the cost of those bills is clearly the homeowner’s responsibility – the result would be some of our homeowners would be surprised by an extra $2,000+ on their next utility bill. We know many of the families we serve wouldn’t be prepared for that, and it could be a huge burden on them. So, while we believe it really was their cost to pay, the Betenbough Homes leadership team decided to inform the customers and give them a few days to get the bills changed over into their name – but to forgive over $500,000 in utility bills. This is just one more example of us loving our neighbor as ourselves.
